ARAD  OPEN  2009 – FIDE international chess open, 8-14 august 2008, ARAD (ROMANIA)
CHILDREN TOURNAMENT: open tournament for under 12 years old children (born after 01.01.1997)

ORGANIZER: Vados Chess Club Arad, with the support of Arad City Hall and Arad County Chess Association
TOURNAMENT VENUE: Arad Sports Hall
PLAYING SYSTEM, GAME TEMPO: swiss, 9 rounds, 2h/40 moves + 30’ for the rest of the game.
                            Children tournament: 90 min/game

PRIZES:   Prize fund: ~ 3500 euro
GENERAL:  1. 4200 RON  (~ 1000 euro)
          2. 3000 RON
          3. 1800 RON
          4. 1200 RON
          5.  700 RON
          6.  400 RON
          7.  300 RON

JUNIORS  under 16 years.....: 1 - 250 RON
ARAD PLAYERS with Elo < 2300: 1 - 250 RON; 2- 150 RON; 3– 100 RON; 4– 50 RON
ELO 1900-2200...............: 1 - 300 RON    2 - 200 RON
ELO < 1900..................: 1 - 250 RON    2 - 150 RON
Unrated.....................: 1 - 200 RON    2 - 100 RON

LUCKY LOSER: 100 RON – through drawing of lots between those players who didn’t get any other prize
All the prizes are neto (tax free), guaranteed, not cumulative and will be divided according to the
Hort system.

Children Tournament: 1- 300 RON; 2- 200 RON; 3- 100 RON; 4- 50 RON; 5- 50 RON
The first three classes in each age group - 8, 10 and 12 years - will receive cups and medals, all
participants will receive diplomas.
All children will receive candy from the organizers.
1 euro = ~ 4.2 RON

ENTRY FEE:
GM, WGM, IM, WIM – no entry fee
General – 20 euro;
Juniors < 16 years old – 12 euro;
Seniors (over 60 years) – 12 euro

Children Tournament : 8 euro

Attendants who want accommodation through the organizers will pay a fee of 8 euro.
Late registration : Those players whose application will be registered after 25.07.2009 will pay
additional charge of 5 euro

ACCOMMODATION:
- Boarding school : 4 euro/person/night in large rooms (4 persons in the room)
- Coandi Hotel*** (www.hotelcoandi.ro): rooms with bath, TV, air condtioning, wireless internet
• 13 euro/person/night – in 2 bed rooms (or 16 euro with breakfast)
• 14 euro/person/night – in rooms with matrimonial bad (or 17 euro with breakfast)
• 21 euro/ person/night – in single rooms (or 26 euro with breakfast)

Free Features included in the price: tennis court with night installation, arranged for the beach area
on the bank of Mures

! 2 byes per player allowed in the first 6 rounds – must be announced before the beginning of the
previous round in which the player will not play.

As a means of relaxation in Arad we recommend Neptune swimming pool complex (recently upgraded from an
investment of over 3 million euro) - the largest swimming pool complex in Eastern Europe, which covers
an area of about 28 hectares of greenery and includes 5 pools and water slide, more than 100 bars,
terraces, restaurants, discos, clubs, internet cafe to which are added tennis courts, volleyball and
the minifotbal field. In the night, the swimming pool complex becomes the central attraction by
numerous terraces, clubs and discos with permanent operation!
